Poker is sweeping across the world in a big way. The game, which once carried the stigma of being played by criminals, brigands, lowlifes, and foolish gambling addicts in dark back alley poker rooms and casinos, has gained much respect around the world as well as a huge fan base from all walks of life. Largely due to the televising of several prominent poker tournaments, including the WSOP, (World Series of Poker) as well as the explosion of online poker rooms, the game has quickly become one of the most popular games in the world. The WSOP championship bracelet is unarguably the most coveted prize in the world of poker. Most online poker rooms offer tournaments in which you can win a seat at the WSOP. In the last two decades, we’ve seen online poker rooms popping up all over the place like wildflowers in the spring. One after another, these online poker rooms have sprung up, attracting hundreds, even thousands of players from across the world to try their hand at the game of poker. As well as the online poker rooms offering real money poker games, several game sites have begun to offer free poker games which you can play. Most of them only offer Texas hold-em, but if you want to try out some other variations of poker, nearly every online poker room have free poker tables on which you can play any game they offer. Pay these tables just to have fun, or to practice some strategies you may have developed or read about. Keep in mind though; playing free poker is entirely different from playing for real money. You will find a lot of players on free tables who simply don’t care if they lose, and so will not bother to fold at all. This is not the case on real money poker tables. When there is real money at stake, most players will protect it and quickly fold losing hands. So don’t expect to get a feel for a real game of poker on the free poker tables. The best you can hope for is to practice calculating odds and get a feel for how the game plays out before testing your skills with real money. Leave a Comment |
